The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 40-year-old man, Badamasi Ibrahim, who was trapped in an old well while attempting to rescue his cow at Sabon Ruwa in Makoda Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, an emergency call was received from one Ibrahim Jibrin at about 3:22 p.m., reporting that a man and his cow had fallen into a well.
Abdullahi said firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully rescued the man and the cow alive.
He said Ibrahim had entered the well to rescue his five-year-old cow but became trapped and was unable to get out. The man reportedly experienced difficulty breathing while inside the well.
Abdullahi advised members of the public against entering or diving into wells to avoid unforeseen accidents.
