Lionel Messi delivered an emotional moment on the pitch by scoring his first goal since returning from the World Cup and the heartbreaking loss of his father, Jorge Messi. However, Inter Miami were held to a 2-2 draw by Philadelphia Union.

After returning to club duty following Argentina’s World Cup campaign and traveling home to Rosario for his father’s funeral, the 39-year-old captain found the back of the net and immediately pointed both hands toward the sky in a quiet tribute to his father and agent, who passed away at age 68.

Despite Messi’s heroic moment and setting up Daniel Pinter’s goal, Inter Miami couldn’t secure all three points as Philadelphia Union fought back to earn a 2-2 draw.
