The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has rescued a mother and her two children who were allegedly kidnapped at Isinigbo/Osi in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Commander of the corps, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Monday in Akure while parading two suspected kidnappers and eight other suspects for various offences.
Adeleye said that following a distress call from the Isinigbo/Osi area, his men arrived at the scene within five minutes and rescued the victims after a brief scuffle with the kidnappers.
He said the two suspected kidnappers were arrested at different locations in collaboration with Fulani men in the area.
“The amazing part of this struggle is that the Fulani men, who had joined us, were the people who assisted us in identifying the kidnappers among them, so that we would not generalise,” he said.
Adeleye said a locally made gun was recovered from one of the suspects, who allegedly confessed to several kidnapping activities, including an attempted abduction of his former boss in Molege, Owo.
He said the suspect allegedly gained access to the woman’s house but fled after her husband and other residents woke up and escaped.
The commander said the second suspect also confessed to being a suspected serial kidnapper operating in the Akure North axis.
Adeleye commended security agencies and residents for their cooperation in tackling criminal activities, saying there had been a drastic reduction in crime across the state.
He reassured residents that security agencies would continue to work to ensure they could carry out their normal activities without fear and return home safely.
