The family of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced two more programmes to complete his burial rites, two days after he was laid to rest in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, speaking on behalf of the family on Wednesday, thanked fans, colleagues, friends and well wishers who turned out for Ogogo’s burial on Monday, August 24.
The family said the large turnout reflected the love and respect the late actor commanded during his lifetime.
The first of the remaining programmes is an 8th day Fidau prayer, scheduled for Monday, August 31, in Ilaro.
The family has called on Ogogo’s loved ones, colleagues and admirers to join them in prayers for the repose of his soul.
A 40 day Artists’ Day will also be held at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro, where members of the entertainment industry will gather to celebrate Ogogo’s life and career through performances.
The event will be coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), While the burial has brought the formal farewell closer to an end, the family’s latest announcement shows that the tributes for the Yoruba cinema veteran will continue, with prayers first and a wider celebration of his artistic legacy to follow.
