For Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, the sleepless nights, endless lectures and examination pressure have finally paid off — ₦10 million.

The Aerospace Engineering graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) emerged as the university’s overall best graduating student for the 2025/2026 academic session after finishing with an outstanding 4.97 CGPA out of 5.00.

Oluolamide’s achievement was celebrated at LASU’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony, where he received a ₦10 million cash prize from the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme (SEPP) in recognition of his exceptional academic performance.

But the ₦10 million was hardly the first indication that Oluolamide was in a league of his own.

During his undergraduate years, he was named Scholar of the Year at the AESA-LASU Dinner, an honour he reportedly received for the second time.

He also distinguished himself outside the classroom, with two of his research papers accepted for presentation at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ NAICE 2026 conference in Lagos.

Following the announcement of his achievement, Oluolamide took to X to celebrate his 4.97/5.00 CGPA and First-Class Honours, attributing the milestone to God’s grace, wisdom and strength throughout his academic journey.

Now, the Aerospace Engineering graduate leaves LASU with more than a First Class certificate.

He departs as the university’s overall best graduating student, and with ₦10 million added to his achievement.

Not a bad reward for being the student who refused to let a decimal point stand between him and excellence.
