The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger has confirmed the death of 15 travellers, while 25 others sustained injuries in a road crash along the Enagi-Mokwa Road.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Niger, Aishatu Sa’adu, said the accident occurred on Saturday evening and involved two buses travelling in the same direction.

She said the buses collided head-on and caught fire, resulting in the deaths of 15 people.

Sa’adu added that 25 injured victims were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Bida, and General Hospital, Kutigi, for treatment.

She attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking at a bend and excessive speed, urging motorists to observe speed limits and avoid dangerous overtaking.
