The police on Thursday, dragged a 49-year-old visa Agent, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged N2.3 million fraud.
The defendant, Olatunde Yusuf, of Gbagi area of Ibadan, is standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
He was alleged to have defrauded an intending emigrant to Cape Verde.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi, alleged that the defendant committed the offences between July 11, and Sept. 19, 2025, at old Gbagi road in Ibadan.
The prosecutor alleged that he obtained the sum of N2.3 million from one Seyi Odekunle, under the pretence of acquiring a Cape Verde Visa for him, knowing same to be false.
He alleged that the defendant stole the money from the complainant and fraudulently converted same to his own use.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State 2000.
The Magistrate, Mr. M. Mudashiru admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of two million naira with two sureties in like sum.
Mudashiru ordered that one of the sureties must produced three years tax clearance.
He, consequently, adjourned the case until Aug. 13, for hearing.
