The United Kingdom has withdrawn its remaining diplomatic staff from Iran as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to escalate.
The UK Foreign Office said the move was due to the deteriorating security situation, adding that the British embassy would continue operating remotely. It also maintained its advisory against all travel to Iran, warning of the risk of arrest or detention for British and dual British-Iranian nationals.
Meanwhile, the United States said its latest round of airstrikes was aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in regional waters.
Iranian state media reported missile strikes near Ahvaz, Ramshir and Andimeshk in western Iran, while Kuwait said its air defences intercepted hostile drones following what it described as Iranian aggression.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that any attack on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz would attract retaliation against Iranian infrastructure.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, said the country would respond decisively to any aggression against its territory or infrastructure.
The latest escalation follows continued exchanges between Iran and the United States, with concerns growing over the impact on regional security and critical infrastructure.
