Troops have rescued 11 kidnapped victims and arrested 21 suspected terrorists, collaborators, logistics suppliers and drug peddlers in separate operations across Borno, Zamfara and Kogi states.
The operations, conducted between July 21 and 22 under Operation HADIN KAI, Operation Fansan Yamma and Operation MESA, also led to the discovery and destruction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
In Borno, troops arrested three suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Bama Local Government Area and recovered food items believed to be destined for terrorists. Two teenage girls who escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains also surrendered to troops in Gwoza.
Security forces further discovered and safely detonated IEDs planted along key roads in Borno, while 12 suspected drug peddlers were arrested in Monguno with quantities of cannabis, tramadol and other illicit substances.
In Zamfara, troops engaged terrorists along the Gambada-Gummi-Sokoto road, forcing them to flee and abandon 11 kidnapped victims, who were rescued unharmed.
In Kogi, troops arrested a suspected terrorist informant who allegedly worked for a notorious kingpin, alongside three other suspected terrorists in separate operations. Two suspected logistics couriers transporting supplies allegedly meant for terrorists were also apprehended.
The military said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, rescue victims and deny criminal groups freedom of operation.
