Police have launched an investigation after the lifeless body of an unidentified man was discovered in an uncompleted building in the Albishiri area of Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
The community leader, Dangana Abubakar, said residents found the body hanging inside the building on Thursday morning.
According to him, it is the second time a corpse has been discovered in an uncompleted building within the area.
He said the deceased had yet to be identified and appealed to residents to remain calm while authorities investigate the incident.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the police received a report of the incident at about 7 a.m. on Thursday.
According to him, preliminary observations suggest the incident may be a case of suicide.
“Meanwhile, the Chanchaga Local Government Social Welfare Department has been contacted for necessary action, while further investigation is ongoing,” he said.
