The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has fulfilled his N25 million pledge to victims of the recent fire outbreak at Bode Market in Ibadan.
The fire incident occurred on July 3 at the herbs market in Molete, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
Represented by Chief Shina Alabi, Alli presented the cheque to the Iyaloja of Bode Market, Mrs Sikiratu Makinde, during a ceremony held at the market on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Alabi said Alli remained committed to supporting small businesses and improving the livelihoods of traders across Oyo State.
He reaffirmed the APC governorship candidate’s dedication to grassroots economic development and the welfare of traders.
Alabi described the donation as a demonstration of Alli’s sincerity, compassion and commitment to the wellbeing of ordinary citizens.
According to him, Alli recognises the important role market men and women play in sustaining the state’s economy.
He quoted the governorship candidate as saying that “greater opportunities awaited traders under an APC-led administration”.
The presentation was witnessed by the APC Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Gbenga Olayemi, and Dr Tunji Olanipekun, who commended the traders for their support and confidence in the party.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Makinde thanked Alli for fulfilling his promise.
She described the gesture as timely and impactful, assuring the APC governorship candidate of the continued support and prayers of the traders.
