The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra State has stressed the importance of stronger collaboration among security agencies in tackling illicit drug trafficking, substance abuse and other criminal activities.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Charles Onubogu, stated this during a familiarisation visit by the Commanding Officer of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Onitsha, Lt.-Col. Joseph Enyia, to the agency’s office in Awka.
“Effective collaboration among security agencies remains indispensable in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other crimes,” he said.
Onubogu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining its cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to combat drug-related offences and improve public safety.
He congratulated Enyia on his recent appointment and assured him of the agency’s readiness to strengthen intelligence sharing, joint operations and other collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring a safer and drug-free Anambra State.
Earlier, Enyia underscored the need for sustained cooperation among security agencies to address emerging security challenges.
He said the visit was intended to strengthen existing partnerships and provide an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest toward enhancing peace, security and public safety across the state.
Enyia, who assumed command of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment on July 13, was accompanied by senior officers of the regiment.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the working relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NDLEA, as well as introducing the new Commanding Officer to key security stakeholders in the state.
