Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State has commenced the provision of free healthcare services to residents as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and enhance community well-being.
The health intervention, which focuses on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, was organised to mark the council’s 2026 Health Week.
The programme, organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, is being implemented across primary healthcare centres within the local government area.
The week-long exercise offers antenatal and postnatal care, family planning services for men and women, deworming, Vitamin A supplementation, growth monitoring and malnutrition screening.
Speaking at the flag-off of the programme in Epe, the Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all residents.
Animashaun urged expectant mothers, nursing mothers, parents, caregivers, adolescents and other residents to take advantage of the initiative to improve their health and well-being.
“The service is tailored to cater to your healthcare needs and improve your health. Take advantage of it and adhere to the instructions provided by the health workers.
“Let every resident visit the nearest Primary Health Care Centre or designated outreach post during the exercise and benefit from the free, life-enhancing services.
“Together, we are building healthier families, a healthier community, and a greater Epe,” she said.
