For GOAT Lionel Messi, the World Cup has ended on a sour note.
He was a favourite for the trophy as well as the Golden Boot but Argentina’s Sunday loss of the final game to the classical Spanish side has robbed him of both.
Winning them or at least one would I’ve been the perfect fairytale for the 39-year-old but it didn’t go as he and his millions of fans wished.
Curiously, Argentina were absolutely dominated by Spain throughout the game, with the goal coming in extra time by the Barcelona Forward Ferran Torres.
Messi had no shot on target and couldn’t spin any fruitful assist as he did against England.
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe is running away with the Golden Boot having added two goals to his tally against England during the third place match, rounding him up to 10 goals and winning the golden boot with Messi coming second with eight.
