Court remands man over alleged cell phone theft

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court remanded a 27-year-old man, Timileyin Elujulo on Monday, after pleading guilty to stealing two cell phones.

The Magistrate, Taofeek Badmus, who gave the ruling, remanded the defendant at the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre for facts and sentencing at the next date of adjournment.

Elujulo had pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 30, 2026 at about 12:00a.m. at Oduduwa College Road, Ile-Ife.

Adesina said that the defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Omolara Awowole, and stole one iPhone 12 Promax and one Samsung AO7 valued at N570,000 and N330,000 respectively.

According to him, the offence contravene Section 383 of Criminal Code, Law of Osun, 2002.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 3, for fact and sentencing.
