The reality of court marriage stared content creator Peller in the face on Wednesday when the Marriage Officer stressed the penalty for bigamy, which is going into another union when legally married.
According to the constitution, the offender will spend five years in jail.
Peller, whose real name is Hamzat Adelaja, and Elizabeth Amadou, also known as Jarvis, formalised their union with the court wedding ahead of their anticipated white bash.
Even if jovially, he expressed more than surprise at anti-bigamy declaration while his sweetheart urged him to focus on their mission.
The couple announced their marriage in a joint Instagram post on Wednesday.
“Congratulations to us. The first chapter of our forever starts here. Court wedding done, forever to go, “the post reads.
The post featured photographs of the newlyweds in matching wedding attire.
They also acknowledged members of the team that handled the ceremony, including their stylist, photographer, makeup artist and event planner.
The announcement has attracted congratulatory messages from celebrities, colleagues and fans, with many offering prayers and well wishes ahead of their white wedding.
Media personality Kemity congratulated the couple, while gospel singer Ebuka Songs wrote, “Big Congratulations Ogo,” in the comment section.
Actress Jenni Frank, content creator Oye Olohun TV and several other entertainers also extended goodwill messages, wishing the couple a successful marriage.
Fans equally flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages, with many describing the wedding as “the beginning of a beautiful journey” for the couple.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Peller and Jarvis, who rose to prominence through their engaging livestreams and social media content, had earlier announced plans to hold their white wedding on Aug. 1.
The couple became popular through TikTok, where their comedy skits, live streams, prank videos and relationship-centred content regularly attract millions of views.
Their relationship has gained huge traction online, making news of their wedding one of the trending entertainment stories on social media.
