The Police Command in Oyo State has said it was on the trail of abductors of Mrs Adetutu Aderibigbe, who was kidnapped at her residence on Wednesday in Ibadan.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, described as untrue reports suggesting that the victim was kidnapped at Challenge area of Ibadan.
According to him, Aderibigbe was abducted by four armed men wearing masks at the entrance of her residence at Bolumole, off Ring road in Ibadan, at 6:00p.m.
Olayinka said that findings indicated that four armed men wearing masks trailed the victim to her residence and accosted her at the gate while attempting to enter her premises.
He said that the victim was then forcefully taken away in an unregistered black Lexus vehicle while a family member, who was present at the scene, was left unharmed.
Olayinka said the Police when alerted about the incident, promptly swung into action passing the information to the Control Room and as well escalated it to relevant tactical units.
“Detectives were swiftly deployed to the scene for on-the-spot assessment.
“Surveillance and intelligence efforts have also been intensified to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe rescue of the victim,” Olayinka said.
He assured the public that the command had deployed all necessary resources to secure the victim’s release and apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
