Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has congratulated the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Akubeze, on the occasion of his 20th Episcopal Anniversary.

In a statement issued in Benin City by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Ebojele, the governor described the milestone as a reflection of Archbishop Akubeze’s unwavering dedication to faith, service, and moral leadership.

Okpebholo noted that the Archbishop’s episcopal motto, “Ut Testimonium Perhibeam Veritati”—meaning “to bear witness to the truth”—captures a ministry marked by integrity, discipline, and selfless service to humanity.

He further highlighted that since his episcopal consecration in 2006, Akubeze has shown remarkable consistency in pastoral leadership, institutional development, and community engagement.

The governor also commended his role as the pioneer Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi and his later appointment as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Benin City in 2011, noting that he has continued to offer strong spiritual guidance and stability.

Describing him as a principled and steady moral voice, Okpebholo said Akubeze’s contributions have fostered unity and inspired many within Edo State and beyond.

He joined Catholic faithful, the wider Christian community, and other well-wishers in celebrating the Archbishop, while praying for continued strength, wisdom, and good health in his service to the Church and society.
