The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has said that he lacks the power to impeach political office holders like a governor and council chairman.
According to him, he has no hands in the alleged plot to unseat the Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
He described the allegation as not only false, but misleading.
The royal father in a statement issued by his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, cautioned against dragging the throne of Olubadan into what he described as dirty politics.
Oba Ladoja said it was illogical to suggest that a traditional ruler could have the constitutional authority to remove a sitting governor.
According to him, even a local government chairman cannot be impeached by any traditional ruler.
Ladoja reiterated his commitment to the traditional institution, urging political actors in the state to refrain from involving the revered throne in partisan controversies.
