Makinde tasks Christians on continuous intercession during Easter festival
Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on Christians to embrace the lesson of continuous intercession taught by Jesus Christ through his death and resurrection.
This is contained in an Easter message issued on Saturday in Ibadan by Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media.
Makinde equally harped on the need for selflessness among residents and stressed on continuous intercession for the state, county and it’s leadership at critical periods.
He congratulated Christians on witnessing the end of the 40-day lenten period and the Easter celebration.
Makinde said that Easter signifies the height of God’s love for humanity, as exemplified by Jesus Christ’s persecution, death and resurrection.
“It teaches humanity to be selfless, to love and make sacrifices for others,” he said.
Makinde also said that throughout the period of Jesus Christ’s trial leading to the crucifixion on the Cross and beyond, He interceded for humanity.
“Christians must imbibe such lesson by also praying for Nigeria and government at all levels during the Easter festival and beyond,” he stated.
Makinde, who appreciated the Christian community’s support and cooperation since 2019, charged them not to relent as the administration continues to serve the people.
He equally admonished residents of the state to be vigilant during and after the Easter festivities.
The governor further urged residents not to hesitate in reporting suspected criminals to security agencies once they notice anything suspicious in their environment.
He advised residents to always make use of the state’s emergency number 615, stressing “security is a responsibility of everyone”.
