Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has sympathised with the family of late ASC Victoria Ogbodo, crushed during a simulation exercise, in Abuja
The condolence was contained in a statement released by the Corps’s Spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale on Sunday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that late Ogbodo, an officer in the NSCDC Female Strike Force, was accidentally run over by a colleague, during a drama presentation by the special unit.
Babawale, explained that the unfortunate incident occurred at the national headquarters, during a simulation exercise tagged, “Tactical Rescue Operation” of kidnapped school children organized by the Female Strike Force.
He said that the exercise was in commemoration of 2026 World Civil Defence Day; an annual event observed by member countries worldwide.
“Following the incident, the personnel was immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Gwagwalada Specialist hospital, Abuja,
“However, all efforts to salvage the situation by the doctors proved abortive as she later passed on.” Babawale explained.
According to the spokesman, CG Audi, expressed shock over the unfortunate incident and prayed for the repose of her soul while conveying deepest condolences to everyone associated with the deceased, including all officers and men of the corps nationwide.
Babawale stated that the NSCDC boss has also directed a high delegation of the corps to pay a condolence visit to the family of the victim.
Audi, assured of very befitting burial rites and payment of her post life benefits in the service.
“I appealed to officers to continue praying for the service.
“I charge you not to be deterred, by this unfortunate incident
“I advise, in order to prevent any future occurrence of workplace hazard, all safety standards and protocols must be observed, due to the nature of the corps’ assignment.” the spokesperson quoted Audi saying.
