Distraught supporters of Enyimba FC of Aba have warned the Kanu Nwankwo-led management to ensure the club did not go on relegation in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Aba, on Thursday, some of the supporters advised the management to put its house in order to avert the looming disaster.
They expressed the fear that the club might slide into relegation, following it’s persistent abysmal outings and appalling current position on the NPFL.
A supporter, Ikechukwu Okoro, expressed dismay over the team’s unimpressive runs in the league and blamed the management for “recruiting under-performing players”.
Okoro said that the team had not shown the resilience and conquering spirit that guided the club to two successive CAF Champions League trophies in the past.
“I pray we survive the storm of relegation that is raging and pushing us around, so that next season the management will learn to do the right thing at the right time,” he said.
Another supporter, Ugochukwu Nwosu, said he was confident that the club would not go on relegation but warned the management to end the unhealthy practice of hiring and firing coaches at will.
“For me, changing of coaches during the season brings about changing of tactics and other things and it makes the players to start from square one,” Nwosu said.
Adline Onyema said he felt ashamed watching Enyimba playing at the stadium on Sunday against visiting Barau FC of Kano, a league debutant.
“I am afraid, Enyimba may go on relegation since they could not defeat league debutants like Barau FC and Kun Khalifa of Owerri this season,” he said.
Uche Maduka called on the club management to stick with the new technical adviser until the end of the season.
Maduka expressed confidence in the coach, saying that he would save the club.
He advised that the club could go for a well-known and sound technical adviser after the season.
“I never believed that Enyimba will be languishing in the 12th position on the NPFL table, considering it’s pedigree in the African football,” he said.
