The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State, has reaffirmed its commitment to producing high-quality manpower capable of driving Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, gave the assurance on Thursday in Lafia during the matriculation of students into various postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Abdul-Rahaman said the students were admitted into Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s and Doctorate degree programmes across different disciplines.
He explained that the university’s postgraduate programmes had continued to maintain high academic standards and quality since their inception.
According to him, graduates of the institution’s postgraduate programmes have continued to excel in various fields of endeavour both within and outside the country.
The vice-chancellor pledged that the university would sustain its standards to ensure that research outputs from the institution provide practical solutions to challenges confronting the nation.
He noted that the university had become one of the key producers of skilled human resources needed to propel national development.
“The College of Postgraduate Studies has continued to live up to expectations since its establishment.
“We run a wide range of activities, including academic lectures, seminars, workshops, community service and social engagements, aimed at developing our students academically and socially,” he said.
Abdul-Rahaman urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to enhance their skills, talents and professional competence.
He described postgraduate studies as demanding, but assured the students of the university’s support system to help them succeed in their academic pursuits.
The vice-chancellor also encouraged them to maintain close collaboration with their peers, lecturers and other staff, while avoiding actions that could undermine their academic goals.
He further assured the students of adequate security on the two campuses of the university, adding that the management was working closely with security agencies to ensure prompt response to any security challenges.
Abdul-Rahaman urged the students to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate university authorities for immediate action.
