The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to it members to close ranks and work for the overall interest of the party and Nigerians in general, notwitsanding the Ibadan High Court judgment over its national convention.

The Cross River chapter of the party made the appeal in a statement on Saturday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Mike Ojisi.

Ojisi, who described the Ibadan High Court judgment as a “landmark judgment” urged members to respect the ruling.

”The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan had in its judgment  nullified the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, 2025.

”The court also recognised the Mohammed Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee as the authentic National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

“This judgment is a significant victory for the rule of law and democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the directive underscores the importance of adhering to court orders and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We commend the court’s decision and urge all members of the PDP in Cross River State to respect the judgment.

“We call on all PDP members in Cross River State to unite behind the Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee, the party State Chairman, Venatius Ikem, and work towards rebuilding and repositioning the party for future successes.

“Together, we can build a stronger, more united, and more prosperous PDP in Cross River State,” he stated.

It would be recalled that the party had been embroiled in crisis over the purported convention held in Ibadan.

The Nyesom Wike backed Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee had described the convention as illegal on the basis that several states congresses were yet to be concluded before the alleged convention.

The purported convention, which had the backing of Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Gov. Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State, produced Kabiru Turaki as the party’s chairman.

Following the crisis that ensued after the convention, the Turaki faction of the PDP had filed the suit seeking recognition of the Ibadan convention and validation of the NWC that emerged.

However, in delivering the judgment, Justice Uche Agomoh led court nullified the election and also barred Turaki and other officials purportedly elected at the convention from parading themselves as national officers of the party forthwith.
