Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, Chairman, Agege LGA, on Thursday led top management officials on a strategic courtesy visit to the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development.
The chairman said the engagement was designed to strengthen grassroots collaboration and deepen intergovernmental cooperation for improved public service delivery.
He described the visit as part of deliberate efforts to align local governance priorities with state development frameworks.
The delegation included the Council Manager, Adesina Osikoya, and other principal officers of the local government.
Obasa said effective governance depends on strong institutional partnerships anchored on trust, coordination, and shared development objectives.
He stressed that sustained collaboration with the state government remains critical to accelerating infrastructure, social services, and administrative efficiency at the grassroots.
“Effective governance thrives on strong partnerships. This engagement reflects our commitment to collaborative governance and leveraging state support for Agege’s growth and transformation,” Obasa said.
Council Manager Osikoya described the visit as strategic, noting it would enhance administrative coordination and strengthen service delivery outcomes.
He said closer alignment with state policies would further improve operational efficiency and accountability within the local government system.
Responding, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, welcomed the Agege delegation and commended the council’s collaborative approach.
She said sustained interaction with local governments is essential for effective policy implementation and inclusive development at the grassroots.
The ministry assured the council of continued support in rural development, chieftaincy administration, and institutional capacity building.
In closing, Obasa reaffirmed that strong state-local partnerships remain central to his administration’s agenda for sustainable development.
He said coordinated governance is key to delivering measurable and lasting benefits to Agege residents.
