Based on the great exploits Nigerian acts Ayra Starr and Tems have made, afrobeats star Davido has tipped them among his list of the three next greatest from the country.
The duo have particularly excelled internationally that they have respectively won the BET and Grammy awards.
For Davido, Asake, Rema, and Omah Lay are, however, the leading male artistes that could be regarded as the next greatest of all time in the Nigerian music scene.
He gave the verdict during an appearance on Carter Efe’s Twitch livestream on Wednesday night.
Asked who the next GOAT is after him, Davido replied, “Right now, for me, I say, between Asake, Omah Lay, or Rema. If you ask me. I think they’ve done exceptionally well.”
He noted that his assessment focused on male artists, while acknowledging the achievements of leading female stars like Tems and Ayra Starr.
“Obviously, we have Tems, Ayra Starr, stuff like, I’m talking about males. Those three, killing it, you know what I’m saying,” he said.
Davido expressed his admiration for the trio, highlighting their international impact.
“Omah Lay, obviously, my brother. Rema loves him so much. Asake, I have so much love for him as well. They’re all doing amazingly well. Especially globally. It’s just amazing to be in America and just see them. You know I’m saying. It is not easy,” he added.
