Sen. Sunday Katung (APC-Kaduna South) has distributed 4,000 bags of rice to his constituents across the district to support families in celebrating the Christmas season.
The distribution exercise, which cut across party lines, reached beneficiaries including religious organisations, market women, vulnerable persons, community groups and party faithful across the eight local government areas of the district.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr Yohanna Allahmagani, a former Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, urged the constituents to continue to support and pray for the Senator, particularly during the festive season.
Allahmagani described the gesture as a reflection of Katung’s commitment to easing the burden on families during Christmas and the New Year, adding that it underscored his people-centred approach to leadership.
He, however, assured the people that Katung would continue to attract democratic dividends and provide effective and impactful representation to the people of the district.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Grace Luka, a trader from Kachia Local Government Area, commended the lawmaker for the initiative, saying the support would help her family celebrate Christmas in spite of the prevailing economic challenges.
“This gesture means a lot to us. It shows that our senator remembers the people, especially at a time like this,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Mr Daniel Yakubu from Zangon Kataf, also expressed appreciation, noting that the distribution brought relief to many households.
“We are grateful for this support. It will go a long way in helping families enjoy the festive season,” Yakubu said.
