Wife of the Delta Governor, Mrs Tobore Oborevwori, has urged children to cultivate love, diligence and the fear of God as key principles for achieving a purposeful and successful life.
Mrs Oborevwori, who is also the founder of the ‘You Matter Charity Foundation’, gave the charge at the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party she hosted at Government House, in Asaba on Friday as part of activities marking the yuletide season.
She described Christmas as a period dedicated to love, generosity and shared joy.
The governor’s wife noted that the party was organised to celebrate children and reaffirm their importance in society.
She reminded the children that they represent the future of the state, encouraging them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their education and personal growth.
According to her, success is rooted in consistent effort and strong values, stressing that with determination and hard work, every child can realise their aspirations.
Mrs Oborevwori also underscored the need for spiritual grounding, advising the children to live Godly lives and seek divine guidance in all they do.
Earlier, Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Josephine Emu, welcomed guests and praised the governor’s wife for sustaining the annual children’s Christmas party.
Emu described it as a clear demonstration of her passion for child development and welfare.
In a brief exhortation, Mrs Nkechi Onianwa who spoke on ‘God’s love for humanity’ drawing from biblical passages, encouraged the children to love one another, respect their parents and remain firm in their faith.
The event featured music, dance performances, games and other fun-filled activities, and ended with the distribution of gifts to the children, in line with the vibrant World Colour Day theme.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event attracted more than 500 children from the 25 local government areas of the state, providing a lively and colourful atmosphere for the annual event.
