Chief Anthony Nchekwube, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has called on residents of Awka North Local Government Area to support his aspiration for the chairmanship of the council.

Nchekwube, who is the Convener and National Coordinator of the APGA Apostles Forum, made the call on Saturday in Awka.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Anambra State Independent National Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has scheduled the 2026 local government elections for August.

The APGA chieftain promised to build a functional, secure and productive Awka North through open governance and strong community participation if elected.

He said he would bring experience, integrity and a clear development plan to grassroots governance across the 14 political wards of the council area.

Nchekwube said his background as Convener of the APGA Apostles Forum and former APGA Anambra State Auditor for eight years had equipped him with strong mobilisation and accountability skills.

He pledged to work closely with farmers, youths, women groups and traditional institutions to drive inclusive development.

He said his vision aligned with Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s people-centred manifesto for sustainable development in Anambra State.

“I respectfully seek the support, prayers and goodwill of the people to serve as the next Chairman of Awka North Local Government Council,” he said .
