Adeola commiserates with world boxing star Joshua, over fatal accident

Sen. Solomon Adeola on Tuesday, expressed condolences to world heavy weight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, following a ghastly accident which claimed the lives of two members of his team .

This is contained in a statement to newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday, by Media aide to the senator, Mr Kayode Odunaro.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West, regretted the unfortunate incident, adding that it had casted an ‘ugly shadow’ on an otherwise joyous holiday season for Nigerians, and boxing fans worldwide.

“It was indeed a sad event involving a boxing legend from Ogun State that occurred in Makun.

“The loss of precious lives on holidays is heartbreaking,” he said.

He wished Joshua and his driver, speedy recoveries from injuries as well as trauma sustained in the accident.

Adeola prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased, and sufficient fortitude for their families and friends to bear the irreparable loss.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ogun Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Afolabi Odunsi, had on Monday, confirmed the incident in a statement in Abeokuta.

Odunsi had explained that the incident occurred at 12noon.

The FRSC had attributed the crash to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking, noting that the car had lost control before colliding with a stationary truck.
