Former Director of Public Affairs at the National Population Commission (NPC), Mrs Taibat Oloruntoba, has called on alumni to support their alma maters to foster educational growth and development.
She made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, during the 50th anniversary of Ahmadiyya Grammar School, Ogbagi-Akoko, Ondo State.
Oloruntoba urged alumni to identify specific projects or areas of intervention to uplift their former schools and sustain their legacies.
“When this school was conceived in 1975, few could have imagined that the humble seed planted would grow into a beacon illuminating generations,” she said.
“Fifty years later, the light still shines, shaping minds, refining character, and moulding leaders.”
Describing the school as a cradle of excellence, she said it had produced trailblazers and nation builders across Nigeria and beyond.
She noted that the golden jubilee was a time to reminisce and renew commitment to the school’s founding ideals of hard work, discipline, godliness, and self-sacrifice.
“As AGSO steps confidently into its next phase, each alumnus and alumna should give back to uplift the school to enviable heights.
“Collectively, we should create, renovate, and support projects that make us proud of our alma mater,” Oloruntoba said.
She added that service to humanity remained the “rent payable to God for our earthly space,” describing the anniversary as a celebration of 50 years of memories, hope, friendship, and selflessness.
