The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Osun State University Branch, on Monday said it would join the two-week warning strike directed by the national body of the union.
Dr Weinde Olaosebikan, UniOsun ASUU Chairman, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo.
“The strike is a directive to all branches of ASUU nationwide, therefore, all branches of ASUU must join; must comply maximally.
“UniOsun ASUU will join the strike. There’s is no division among our members.
“We are going to issue a directive before noon. The strike is commencing by 12 midnight today.
“All academic activities have to be suspended until the end of the two weeks warning strike,” he said.
NAN reports that the National President of ASUU, Prof. Chris Piwuna, at a news conference at the University of Abuja on Sunday, directed ASUU members in all public universities to embark on nationwide two weeks warning strike.
Piwuna gave the directed after the ultimatum issued to the Federal Government to meet their demands elapsed on Sunday. (NAN)
