Alaafin of Oyo calls for more investment in women

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has called for more investments in women to enable the country have better homes and children.
Owoade made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the 2025 Annual Maulud Nabiyy Celebration and Family Picnic in Abuja.
The event with the theme,  “The Ummah in Today’s World: Building Resilient Faith, Family and Community, through Prophetic Values” was organised by the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation under the leadership of Dr Sarafudeen Aliagan
“It is always very good to invest in our women. We should  not neglect that fact.
“We need to invest in them because, by the time we get them into entrepreneurship, it is going to help our society and homes as well.
“Not only that, as Muslims, we should always not be concerned about today, but about the future as well, because, things are really changing.
“Also, the way the world is going, we can see that the world is becoming technologically advanced. So,  we should also get into information technology learning to make us effective and better in the future,” Owoade said.
NAN reports that the event, which the Oba attended, was the remembrance of the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, and featured lectures on resilient faith, family and community, relying on the Holy Quran, teachings and doings of the Prophet.
The event was held for adults, youths and children at three different locations simultaneously.
NAN reports that, high points of the event included, Quranic recitation, Tahni’atu’r-rabee, soul reflection, light-hearted competition with Aliagan, presentation of gifts and prayers.
