Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has extended condolences to the family of Miss Chinwe Igwe, the victim of a tragic incident between Onitsha traders and operatives of the State Environmental Law Enforcement outfit.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Onitsha recalls that Miss Igwe, who passed away, was among six other victims who suffered gunshot injuries when the taskforce allegedly clashed with some traders.

Soludo, who met with representatives of the Igwe family from Ikwo in Ebonyi State at the Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters, assured the family of a thorough investigation.

According to the governor, a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The governor emphasized that any security personnel found wanting would be made to face prosecution.

He added that it was essential that operatives adhered to established protocols to avoid preventable tragedies because every life matters.

Soludo praised the law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the situation, urging them to sustain their efforts in maintaining peace and order throughout the state.

Responding on behalf of the family, Mr Uche Igwe, brother to the deceased, thanked the governor for showing concern in ensuring that justice is served.

The governor also visited a private hospital in Onitsha to offer his sympathy to one of the injured victims, who is reportedly responding to treatment.

He later visited two other injured victims hospitalised at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi.
