The first Saturday of every month has long been marked on the calendars of believers within and beyond Nigeria. But Saturday, August 2, 2025, felt different. As I made my way to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, the atmosphere seemed to carry a weight of expectation. This was not just another monthly gathering. It was another opportunity to encounter Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, the scientist-turned-preacher, whose ministry has redefined spiritual warfare for millions.
The theme for this edition of Power Must Change Hands (PMCH) was “Defeating Domestic Wickedness (5).” The choice of scripture, Genesis 4, hinted at the gravity of the message: battles that spring not from distant enemies, but from within—the kind of betrayals that cut the deepest.
The programme began, as always, with aggressive praise and worship. The hall vibrated with drums, claps, and choruses that felt more like battle cries than melodies. Standing among thousands, I found myself swept into the rhythm—each song a declaration that something was about to shift.
Testimonies followed. A woman recounted her healing from an ailment that had defied medicine. A young man spoke of long-awaited breakthroughs after years of delay. These were not just stories; they were sparks of hope, igniting the faith of those of us still waiting for our own miracles.
Then came the Power Utterances. The congregation roared: “Every work of darkness assigned against my life by household wickedness shall backfire!” The words rolled out like thunder, fists clenched, eyes shut, as if every person in the hall was determined to wrestle their destiny out of unseen hands. I could feel it—this was not ritual. It was war.
When Dr. Olukoya stepped up, the hall hushed. Calm, composed, yet commanding, he opened the scriptures to Genesis 4. His message was surgical: domestic wickedness is often cloaked in familiarity, but it must be confronted with divine authority. He reminded us of Christ’s promise in Luke 10:19, underscoring that believers have the power to trample serpents and scorpions, both literal and metaphorical.
He did not shout. He did not dramatise. Yet, each word pierced like an arrow. As I listened, I felt an uncomfortable recognition—hidden battles I had overlooked, subtle patterns I had dismissed, were suddenly illuminated.
The climax came with the Word Bombs—scriptures fired like missiles into the atmosphere: Psalm 34:17, Isaiah 41:10, Ephesians 6:10. The hall erupted, voices raised in unison, stamping those verses into the soil of their destinies. It was chaos and order all at once.
What struck me most was not just the energy in the hall, but the knowledge that this same fire was burning across continents. From Europe to North America, from Africa to Asia, the MFM branches and online viewers were plugged into the same current of deliverance.
As the programme drew to a close, I realised why PMCH is never just another Saturday. For me, the August 2025 edition was more than a service—it was a reminder that encounters with Dr. Olukoya are never ordinary. His blend of scientific precision and prophetic insight make every word weighty, every prayer strategic, every scripture alive.
Walking out of Prayer City, I felt lighter, sharpened, and emboldened. The battles may continue, but one truth is undeniable: power had changed hands.
