The Deputy Governor of Edo, Mr Dennis Idahosa has called on Nigerians to view the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence anniversary, not only as a celebration of freedom but also as a renewed call to duty.
Idahosa, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, was quoted as saying Oct. 1 was a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifices, and vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers who laid the groundwork for a united and prosperous nation.
The deputy governor acknowledged the nation’s challenges over the decades but noted that Nigerians had consistently demonstrated resilience, creativity and determination.
He said these qualities must be harnessed to build a stronger and more prosperous country.
“Independence anniversary is not only a celebration of our freedom as a people but also a call to duty.
“It reminds us that the task of building a greater Nigeria lies with every one of us.
“Let us remain committed to peace, justice, and the collective good of our nation,” the deputy governor said.
Idahosa, who congratulated Nigerians on the independence anniversary, commended the people of Edo for their steadfast support for Gov. Monday Okpebholo’s vision of inclusive growth.
He pledged the administration’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens through people-centered policies and programs.
While praying for God’s blessings on the country, he urged Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey so far and renew their dedication to patriotism, integrity, and selfless service to humanity.
