A 37-year-old man, Abisoye Ayodele, was on friday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N2.6 million.
Police Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 27 at about 10:30 a.m. at Ikola Road, Alagbado.
Ikhayere alleged that Ayodele unlawfully stole N2.6 million belonging to one Eze Uzoworo.
She said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes punishment for stealing.
The charge was read to the defendant, who pleaded not guilty before the court.
Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Owolabi ruled that the sureties must be gainfully employed, provide tax clearance and verification documents as part of the bail conditions.
Investigating Police Officer, ASP Edwin Imuetiyan of Alagbado Division, confirmed readiness to proceed with the case on the next adjourned date.
The matter was adjourned until Oct. 6 for further hearing.
