A househelp accused of stealing gold in Kaduna has denied the allegation, saying he had never been to his madam’s bedroom where it was kept.
Two domestic staff, Maryam Aliyu and Sa’adatu Umar , were on Wednesday docked in Shari’a court ll sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna state for allegedly stealing their employer’s gold earrings.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Luka Sadau, said that one Yagana Ali had on Aug. 30, reported the matter at the Sabon Gari, Police station saying she suspected that the two girls stole her gold earrings worth N270,000.
He said the nominal complainant told the police that Maryam had worked for her for eight years.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
“I have never been to my madam’s bedroom. I only sweep and clean the living room and surroundings”, Umar said.
The Judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, admitted the defendants to bail on the condition they provide a reliable surety.
Abdullahi adjourned the matter until Sept. 15 and ordered the complainant to present her witnesses in court.
