The Delta State police command has apprehended two armed robbery suspects and recovered an AK-47 rifle.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday in Warri. He said police operatives attached to the Ekpan Division in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state nabbed the suspects.

According to Edafe, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Labe Joseph, received credible information on the activities of the hoodlums from some community security guards who saw them attempting to steal a car battery.

“The DPO led a police team to arrest one of the suspects.
“Following a confessional statement from the suspect, the police intensified their operations, leading to the arrest of another key suspect.
“During the follow-up operation, one AK-47 rifle concealed inside an isolated building within Ometan Community and linked to the syndicate was recovered,” Edafe said.
He said that the suspects would be charged in court after an investigation into the matter.
