Colleagues of  deceased physician, Dr. Oluwafemi Rotifa, have mourned him.

Rotifa, who was a resident doctor at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH),  collapsed and died after reportedly working a 72-hour stretch without rest last week.

Amid grief and call for a better condition of service for medical workers, he was buried at the Port Harcourt cemetery on Friday 5th September, 2025.

The deceased was a former president of the Port Harcourt University Medical Students’ Association (PUMSA).

His de@th has triggered grief and outrage across Nigeria’s health sector, with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) announcing plans for an autopsy to determine the exact cause.
