The Yobe State Police Command has successfully rescued a two-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Potiskum and has arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the crime. The command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, made the announcement on thursday in Damaturu, praising the operational success.
The toddler was abducted from his home on july 31, and the kidnappers had demanded a N2 million ransom from his father, Mohammed Ishayaku. Following a swift investigation, police operatives tracked and apprehended Abdullahi Aliyu from Kakuri, Kaduna state, who was found to be involved in similar offences in other states.
The arrest of the suspect and the safe rescue of the child highlight the police command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of residents. The police have stated that the suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
