The past week is historical for two of Nigeria’s biggerst musicians, Wasiu Ayinde Kwam 1 and Davido – Omo Baba Olowo.

Neither of them will ever forget the week – though for different contradicting reasons.

While Ayinde found himself in a web following a dishonourable outing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Davido wedded his sweetheart Chiomain Miami.

Generally,  Nigeria’s entertainment world has been action-packed with love, luxury, controversy, and music all sharing the spotlight,

Wedding bells also rang loudest for actress Temi Otedola, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, who tied the knot with her longtime fiancé and music star, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi.

The private yet lavish ceremony took place in Iceland at the iconic Hallgrímskirkja Church, one of the country’s most photographed landmarks, which was completely transformed for the occasion.

The ceremony was graced by a close circle of family and friends, including Temi’s mother, Nana Otedola, her famous sister, DJ Cuppy, and prominent personalities such as billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote.

Popular comedian and skit maker, Broda Shaggi, was also in attendance, sharing Instagram story clips from Iceland, including moments with Mr Eazi and other guests.

The intimate setting and picturesque backdrop have since sparked admiration online, with fans praising the couple’s choice to exchange vows away from the public glare.

Also, another celebrity wedding made headlines and this one is set to be nothing short of extravagant.

Afrobeats megastar, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, disclosed in a now-viral clip that he would spend a staggering 3.7 million dollars in cash on his white wedding to wife, Chioma, in Miami, United States.

NAN reports that Davido and Chioma had previously hosted their traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024.

Davido said the Miami event would be “the greatest white wedding ever witnessed in the history of mankind”, with friends, family, and VIPs expected to fly in from across the globe.

The couple set the tone for the grand celebration with a lavish pre-wedding party in Miami, attended by close friends and industry colleagues.

Videos from the event showed a glamorous atmosphere of music, laughter, and high fashion, fueling anticipation for the main ceremony.

Dangote’s name once again popped up in social media chatter after reports suggested the billionaire might attend, further adding to the star-studded buzz.

Meanwhile, Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly called K1 De Ultimate, found himself at the center of controversy after an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Aug. 5.

According to reports, the singer was approached by a ValueJet flight attendant over a flask in his possession that was suspected to contain alcohol.

The artiste was alleged to have refused to hand over the flask, insisting it contained drinking water, given to him at the airport lounge while he waited to board the aircraft.

The standoff, however, escalated when the crew asked K1 to deboard.

A dramatic video which circulated online showed him and ground staff dodging the wing of the plane as it taxied for takeoff, a serious breach of aviation safety regulations.

The development triggered widespread outrage, with aviation experts condemning both the behaviour and the apparent lapse in ground security protocols.

In a public statement days later, K1 tendered an unreserved apology, admitting his actions were “indefensible” and appealing to aviation authorities to show leniency toward the pilots, who were reportedly suspended in connection with the incident.

“To err is human. I totally regret it,” he said, acknowledging that his conduct had “justifiably” drawn the anger of many.

Amid the whirlwind of wedding glamour and airport drama, Nigerian music sensation, Ayra Starr, ensured the week ended on a high note.

The Grammy-nominated singer released her latest single, “Hot Body”, a seductive dancehall-infused Afrobeats track, co-produced by Ragee and The Elements.

The song blends Ayra’s signature honeyed vocals with hypnotic beats, radiating a confident, sultry energy that has already set social media ablaze.

Fans have flooded Instagram and TikTok with sensual dance clips to the track, amplifying its reach and cementing its status as a summer anthem.
