The message was delivered at a forum titled “Taking the Nigerian Army to the Communities,” which brought together traditional and community leaders, labor unions, and local government chairmen.
Addressing the forum, an official identified as Omoniyi called on Nigerians to never relent in their support for the NA. He emphasized that the scope of security responsibility goes beyond the military and law enforcement agencies alone. “Tackling the complexities of our current security challenges calls for collective participation by every concerned citizen,” he said.

Furthermore, he described the forum as a platform to exchange ideas, develop practical strategies, and forge lasting partnerships that would enhance the security and development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
According to him, the level of success recorded so far in curbing acts of criminality in Oyo State stems from the steadfast cooperation of stakeholders with the NA.
“The outcomes of this gathering have the potential to significantly influence our shared goals for security and sustainable development,” he said.
Similarly, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Maj.-Gen. Gold Chibuisi said the NA remained committed to strengthening its partnership with relevant stakeholders to overcome the nation’s security challenges.
Chibuisi said contemporary security challenges in Nigeria were dynamic and multifaceted, requiring collective efforts to address them.
“This forum underscores the significance of a military-civilian collaboration in addressing root causes of insecurity and laying the foundation for a thriving and harmonious society,” he said.
The Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Oyedepo, having commended the army and other security agencies, requested the deployment of more army personnel to Saki and its environs.
This, he said, was necessary because of the town’s closeness to the neighboring Republic of Benin.
Meanwhile, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi, said a non-kinetic approach to tackling security would be better achieved by collaborating with traditional leaders.
Gandhi, represented by High Chief Kasali Yusuf, says security is local; thus, the involvement of local authorities will go a long way in tackling it.
He noted that nobody should be underestimated if the battles against insecurity were to be won.
The Oyo State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Mr Sanda Sikiru, recapped that security challenges must be jointly tackled to achieve desired results.
Sikiru said that the collaboration and support of local government chairmen would help reduce insecurity in the state to the barest minimum.
The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Olayinka Joe-Fadile, says the NA has a vital role to play in the internal security of Oyo State, especially in the forest.
Joe-Fadile, however, stated that security agencies in the state would continue to collaborate to ensure state security.
