The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in the local government areas affected by Saturday’s by-elections. The directive is a proactive measure to ensure the peaceful and secure conduct of the polls.

In a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the restriction would take effect from 12:00 a.m. on Saturday. The affected areas include Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas.

The police stated that the measure is necessary to maintain law and order, prevent potential security breaches, and allow voters and electoral officials to participate in the democratic process without fear of intimidation or violence.

He said the measure was part of the security arrangements put in place to ensure successful bye-elections in the affected areas.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to comply with this directive, as only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election duties will be exempted.
“The command urges the residents to conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with the security agencies to ensure hitch-free elections,” Hassan said.
