Agidigbo FM founder, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has said that he does not need to apologise to controversial artiste, Naira Marley, for banning his songs at the station.
This is as Oriyomi announces the lifting of the ban, which was a reaction to the death of ‘Peace’ singer, MohBad, upon which Marley was initially indicted.
During a recent broadcast, Oriyomi said the ban was initially put in place due to public pressure and ongoing investigations into Mohbad’s death, in which Naira Marley was among those accused.
Hamzat explained that the station halted airplay of Naira Marley’s music in September 2023 but had now decided to reverse this decision.
He clarified that he holds no personal grudge against Naira Marley and emphasised that the station’s decision to stop playing his songs didn’t seem to impact his career negatively.
With this announcement, Hamzat said Agidigbo FM will resume playing Naira Marley’s songs, effectively ending the ban that had been in place for over a year.
He said, “So many people were accused of Mohbad’s death, and Naira Marley was part of them. Because of the investigation going on then, we were asked to stop airing his songs.
He further noted, “It is whoever you have issues with that you tell, ‘don’t be annoyed by the words I said.”
