The Nollywood blockbuster, “Stitches,” has been selected to premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

BRS Studios, the production company behind the star-studded thriller, made the announcement on its verified Instagram page, @officialbrsstudios. The post stated, “big news! Stitches is officially making its way to the Toronto International Film Festival 2025 (TIFF).”

”From Nigeria to Toronto, this story laced with drama, passion, and romance is about to take the global stage. We can’t wait to share this journey with the world. This is only the beginning. STAY TUNED!”

The movie ‘Stitches’ is directed by award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso, and produced by Chris Odeh, one of the founders of BRS Studios.

The Nollywood masterpiece is selected as one of 10 films to premiere at the festival, a feat that has positioned it among the festival’s top promising global titles for acquisition and distribution.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, ‘Stitches’ plot follows the tale of Boma, a gifted fashion designer who rose from a modest beginning to compete in Lagos’ elite fashion scene.

The ensemble cast includes ace actors Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Regina Askia, Adaobi Dibor, Obinna Okenwa, Tosan Anyafulu, Jemima Osunde, Tomi Ojo, Swanky Jerry, Frank Edoho, Chimezie Imo and Nasboi among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is an annual event acclaimed as one of the most prestigious and largest publicly attended film festivals in the world.

The 2025 edition of the TIFF will be held from Sept 4 to 14 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
