“During the operation, the team apprehended the suspect in possession of one AK-49 assault rifle, three magazines, 15 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, three rounds of 9mm (K2) ammunition, and two rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition,” he said.
The spokesperson said that investigation revealed that the suspect was deeply engaged in armed robbery and illegal land acquisition operations.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had been actively involved in armed robbery and land-grabbing activities across various parts of the state, using the recovered firearm to perpetrate his crimes.
“Further investigations revealed that the suspect has accomplices, ” the image maker said.
According to him, efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate and to charge all involved to court at the conclusion of the investigations.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, commended the officers for their quick action.
