The Niger State Police Command has arrested eight suspects for dealing in illicit drugs and possessing dangerous weapons in Minna.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Abiodun said the suspects were apprehended around 3 a.m. on July 7 by operatives of the Tactical Support Team (TST) during a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots in the Gulu area of Lapai.

This, he said, was based on credible information that the suspects were dealing in illicit drugs and other substances in the area.
“They were arrested in possession of substances  suspected to be cannabis seeds,  amulets, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and dangerous weapons like  large machetes, knives, large sickles and clubs among others.
“The suspects include: Umar Auwal, 18 – years , Yunusa Saleh aka Sorry Baby, 33- years, Samaila Ayoola, 25 -years, Basiru Tanko, 25 – years, Kamal Isyaku, 23 -years,” he said
He stated that they were all natives of Shiroro Local Government Area, residing in Gulu via Lapai.
 Others include: Ben Abel, 30 – years of Abia State residing in Shakwatu, Yusuf Ishaya 31- years of Kagarko Local Government Area, Kaduna State, also residing in Shakwatu and Aliyu Adamu,  19 – years of Chanchaga, Niger, resident of Angwan-Sarki.
Meanwhile, they were all in custody for further investigation after which they would be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly.
