Mr. Peter Kumayon, the newly elected chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has promised to implement people-oriented policies aimed at enhancing the well-being of residents.

Kumayon made this commitment during a press briefing on Monday in Mowo, Badagry, Lagos, where he addressed party members and the media, assuring that his administration would prioritize development that directly benefits the community.

The chairman-elect was addressing party leaders, traditional rulers, supporters, following his victory in the July 12, local government elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kumayon, APC chairmanship candidate secured a total votes of 28,799 to defeat ZLP and PDP candidates that scored 562 and 470 votes respectively.
The chairman-elect promised to uphold the trust and expectations they placed him.
“I pledge before God and this community to uphold the trust and expectations you have placed in me,”
“This mandate is a call to serve, not to rule and our guiding principle will be a government that listens, serves, and delivers.
“I reaffirm my commitments to the people of Olorunda, to provide access to quality basic education for every child.
“I will strengthen our primary healthcare system, enhance social welfare, empower the youths and women through innovation, skills development, and enterprise,
“I pledge to invest in infrastructure, sanitation, security, and a sustainable local economy,” he said.
The chairman-elect promised to maintain a leadership style rooted in transparency, inclusion, and accountability.
Kumayon thanked his party for the support and confidence reposed in him, acknowledging key figures including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for their leadership legacies.
He also thanked the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election, and the outgoing Olorunda LCDA Chairman, Mr Samson Olatunde.
Kumayon paid tribute to traditional rulers in Olorunda, including the Onilogbo of Ilogbo, the Onibereko of Ibereko and the Oniworo of Iworo.
Others were the Onimeke of Imeke, the Onigbanko of Igbanko, and the Oba of Age-Mowo, as well as other Baales and chiefs, for their support in community development.
He further saluted APC leaders across the LCDA, his campaign team, and numerous volunteers whose dedication, he said, made the victory possible.
 He described the record voter turnout as a sign that Olorunda residents were eager for new leadership that puts the people first.
In a reconciliatory tone, Kumayon extended a hand of fellowship to his fellow candidates, stating that they all now share a common responsibility to move the council forward.
“Though we stood on different platforms, we now have a shared mission, the progress of Olorunda.
“I am ready to work with everyone,” he said.
The Chairman-elect concluded by calling on all residents of Olorunda to join hands with his administration to build a council that will thrive and lead,” he pleaded.
