Salihu said following the incident, the NSA constituted a high powered committee to secure relief package for onward distribution to the victims.
He said other APC stakeholders including Mustapha Atiku Ribadu and Umar Marafa also contributed N1 million each towards the humanitarian cause.
He said that about 700 families from the seven affected communities had been screened so far, adding that the process will continue to ensure every affected family is covered.
“This is the first phase of the distribution of the relief package brought by NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the North East Vice Chairman of our party, Comrade Mustapha Salihu.
“The beneficiaries were selected from the seven identified communities worst hit by the flood.
“And each beneficiary will get a bag of rice, a carton of noodles, cooking oil and N10,000.
“We are going to continue the screening process to ensure only the victims get the relief materials,” he said.
According to him, the gesture is not based on party affiliations but humanitarian grounds.
He added that in the spirit of humanity, the NSA has ordered more packages to the victims, including clothing materials, drugs, food, mosquito nets, and food items.
“NSA is really disturbed by the plight of the victims and has assured that everyone affected by the flood will get the relief package,” he said.
Malam Abubakar Sani, a beneficiary, thanked the NSA and APC stakeholders for the gesture.
